Bylaws of CIAAS
Article I. Name and objective
Name. The name of the Association shall be the China-India Association of Atmospheric Scientists, hereinafter designated as the Association. The approved abbreviation of the name, when an abbreviation is proper, shall be CIAAS. The headquarters of the Association shall be at such place as may be determined by the Board.
The objective. The Association is a non-profit organization of the scientists from or working in China and India that conduct researches in air pollution and atmospheric sciences. The union is to promote the connection, communication, and collaboration of atmospheric studies between China and India.
Article II: Membership
The membership. Membership in this Association shall be open to all persons who are in agreement with its purpose regardless of race, gender, and religion.
New members. New members shall be invited by current members or applied by sending email to the board and approved by the board.
Article III Meeting
The meeting. Annual/Biannual meetings shall be organized alternatively in China and India. The board will meet and decide the location, the host organization and time of each meeting three months before the meeting.
The meeting theme. A topic will be selected for the meeting and a call for abstracts will be issued.
Award. An excellent young scientist award will be recognized during each meeting.
Special issue. A special issue with works from the meeting will be published in collaborated journal every two years.
Article IV: The Advisory Committee and the Board
The Advisory Committee. The advisory committee is a collection of individuals who bring unique knowledge to the Board in order to more effectively guide the Association.
The Board. Management of all the affairs of property and interests of the Association shall be vested in the Board. New board members shall be invited by the Board after voting.
The officers. The officers include a chair, two vice-chairs and two secretaries. One vice-chair and one secretary shall come from each of the two countries. The officers are responsible for organizing the meetings and other activities.
Article V: Amendments
Proposal of amendments. Any member may submit, in writing, a proposed amendment to the Board.
Notice of amendment. Notice of any proposed amendment, for which notice is required, shall be distributed to each member entitled to vote, at such address as appears in the records of the Association. Said notice shall be distributed not less than thirty (30) days prior to the next meeting at which such amendment is to be discussed.
Voting on amendment. Any proposed amendments for which notice has been properly given shall be in order for discussion by the members at the meeting of the Association. The amendment then shall require a vote in its favor of two-thirds (2/3) of votes cast of all members of the Board.
